Recorded Worship Services
Below you will find links to the virtual and recorded worship services UUCH has hosted.
May 22: Brad Korb- Am I My Brother’s Keeper? While Cain denied that he was his brother’s keeper, the seven principles of Unitarian Universalism direct us to be keepers of each other. Many UU’s are inspired into action knowing that we all have inherent worth and dignity and that we are all interconnected. Through personal stories and the inspiration of others, we will explore why we are our brother’s, and sister’s, keeper and how it is through giving that we receive.
May 15: Reverend Jo Lubkin- Every Body is a Good BodyAs we continue to delve into May’s theme of “Nurturing Beauty,” guest minister Rev. Joanna Lubkin will lead a service on a theological endorsement of body positivity and body liberation: that every body is a good body, and every body is beautiful.
May 15: Ordination and Installation of Reverend Jaimie Dingus
May 8: Reverend Jaimie Dingus-Mother’s Day: The Work Continues This Sunday as we honor Mother’s Day, we are reminded that Mother’s Day began with women calling for peace and justice for their families and their communities. In this service we will honor the joy and complexity of this day, and explore what justice is calling for us to do to meet the challenges of our time.
May 1: Reverend Amanda Shuber-Everyday Beauty “Beautiful” is a deeply personal understanding that is influenced by culture and even our dna. This Sunday, we explore how “beauty” impacts our connections to ourselves and each other.
April 24: Rev. Jaimie Dingus-Wake Up. World! Every year, the realities of climate change become more apparent in our daily lives. Let’s get real about how we need to address climate crisis, and get curious about how we can navigate this spiritually? Are there lessons from world traditions, that might help us on this journey?
April 17: Rev. Jaimie Dingus– Easter Service On Easter Sunday, Christianity awakens to the miracle of resurrection. In our Unitarian Universalist community, what lessons can we heed of resurrection, and rebirth? What do we want to resurrect? Where do we find miracle? Join us for this special Easter service. And please note, that this year we will NOT be celebrating Flower Communion on Easter Sunday. Instead, our Flower Communion will take place on May 29th!
April 10: Danielle Garrett- “Come All Who Are Weary” Spring is supposed to be a time of awakening after the quiet, restful months of winter. But almost no one I know feels well-rested. Hebrew Bible scholars sometimes describe the fourth commandment, to rest on the Sabbath day, as the bridge between the “loving God” and “loving neighbor” parts of the covenant. This Sunday, we will explore how we, as Unitarian Universalists, can incorporate radical rest into our own covenantal faith, understanding it as necessary before we can awaken to the presence of the divine or the injustices in our world.
April 3: Rev. Jaimie Dingus- “Awakening to Life” As we enter April, our month of Awakening, our Muslim siblings in faith are beginning their month-long journey through Ramadan. In this service, we will learn about Ramadan, and explore our theme of awakening. What are we awakening to? What will we find in this new time? Join us for reflection and worship.
March 27: Rachel Rogers- “Begin Again…Again” Our fourth principle calls us to an individual search for truth and meaning. Our faith journeys are lifelong and the personal spiritual practices we develop serve as stepping stones and building blocks along that path. In this service, we’ll explore the miracle of those daily (even hourly!) opportunities to renew our faith that is experienced as we dedicate ourselves to spiritual practice. We will celebrate the direct experiences with the divine that may start as small moments, but swell into larger turning points and personal groundswells of faith.
March 20: Rev. Jaimie Dingus- “Raising the Roof” In this service, we celebrate the good work of our congregation and the boundless potential we have to grow and shape our community for the better. With hope, let’s imagine all that will be possible through our generosity and commitment!
March 13: Rev. Jaimie Dingus- “Building Blocks” Renewing our faith looks like going back to the basics, the building blocks that make us who we are. What do we believe? What do we call sacred? What are we called to do in the world? What does our mission require of us?
March 6: Demi Vanderwerff- “Searching for a Miracle” In the Christian liturgical calendar, the season of Lent has newly begun. This time of preparation can often be misconstrued as full of guilt, diets, and punishment! In this service, we examine together the spiritual themes and benefits of adopting a Lenten practice with room to encompass many beliefs.
February 27– Rev. Jaimie Dingus- “Widening the Circle for Justice” In 2020, the UUAs “Widening the Circle Report” began a conversation on how Unitarian Universalism might best live into its commitments to Justice and Equity. Let’s explore how we might implement these findings in our own community, widening the circle for justice, compassion and love!
February 20: Rev. Jaimie Dingus- “Widening the Circle Through Covenant” In her book, “The Art of Gathering,” author Priya Parker writes, ““In a world of infinite choices, choosing one thing is the revolutionary act. Imposing that restriction is actually liberating.” That is to say, setting group expectations and being clear about who and how we are can be an expression of radical love and welcome. Let’s explore how our covenant can be a source of freedom and love within our community.
February 13: Rev. Jaimie Dingus- “Widening the Circle in Love” Let’s talk about love! Love that includes, love that embraces, love that opens up new possibilities! As Unitarian Universalists our First Principle calls us to widen the circle of love so that no one falls outside of it. How might we embody that radical call to love?
February 6: Roddy Bigg – “We Are: Promises Kept And Broken ” We Are many things; Connected, Stronger Together, Loves Hands In The World, creating justice, Caring For Oneone Another, and The Earth! These are the Promises we make, the promises we strive to keep, and the promises we are known to break. In this service, we together explore Who We Are as Unitarian Universalists in the 21st century. Join us as we ask ourselves what promises we keep and break as we strive to live our best lives grounded in and by our living faith tradition of Unitarian Universalism.
January 30: Demi VanderWerff- “Journeying with Intention”
January 23: Rev. Jaimie Dingus — “Embracing Change” As humans we love patterns, stability, and control. Yet, sometimes our patterns outlive their usefulness and what used to serve us well, begins to hold us back. How do we navigate change together? How does the practice of living with intention inspire us and help us to adapt to change? Join us to explore these questions and more in our virtual Sunday service!
January 16: Rev. Jaimie Dingus — “The Perpetual Shift” The life and activism of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is rich with lessons and learnings. This year we look deeper at the ways his focus as an activist and organizer changed with the changing needs of the world. On this MLK weekend, what might we learn from his example of flexibility and focus?
January 9: Rev. Jaimie Dingus — “Spirituality on Repeat” Sometimes our deepest spiritual experiences are one-offs: the retreat weekend, the sunrise hike, the unexpected moment of connection. But other times, the spiritual experiences that mean the most to us are the ones we do over and over again. Join us this Sunday as we reflect on the words, actions, songs, and stories, repeated in the community that forms our faith.
January 2: Rev. Jaimie Dingus —“Fire Communion” It’s 2022 and despite our fears, the world feels new. Let us ring in this new year, with our annual tradition of Fire Communion. We will burn away all that we must leave behind, and together spark our hopes for the future year to come.
